Twin XL Mattress Pad

Getting a good night sleep is very important which means investing on a good bed is also very important. Even if you already have a bed, adding a twin mattress pad might be able to add the comfort you need. Here are what you need to know about twin XL mattress pads.
Identifying a twin XL mattress pad should be easy enough once get the terms are cleared:
- A mattress pad is a bed cover that is thicker than an ordinary bed sheet. It provides additional softness and cushion for your bed.
- A twin mattress bed consists of two mattresses positioned one on top of the other.
- XL is a standard of length for bed clothes which means extra long.
The terms therefore refer to a mattress pad for an extra long, twin mattress bed. These are readily available in different kinds of fabrics, with different useful features.
Cotton
This material makes a bed extremely comfortable and soft. Because of this a larger number of people prefer cotton over other kinds of fabric. It is also easy to clean them because it is alright to put them in the washer and dryer. They may or may not be 100% made from cotton.
Waterproof backing
This is a useful and practical feature, especially for families with young children. Kids might take some drinks into their rooms and accidentally spill them. The sheet will repel most of the water which makes it easier to mop up. The bed will still be usable in the evening since it won’t be soaked through. This is also a material that is frequently used for crib bedding.
Quilted or channeled surface
The deep channels make it more comfortable to lie down on the bed. They create an uneven surface which helps contour the shape of the lower back. The patterns may vary; some form large squares, others have straight rows that may be vertical or horizontal.
Anchor bands or pockets
These keep the pad firmly in place on top of the bed. An anchor band is simply a length of garter sewn on each side of a corner, creating a small triangle with it. Pockets are the same, only that they are triangular pieces of fabric on the corners. They are then pulled over the bottom corners of the top mattress.
Skirt
This comes along a complete set. This is spread over the bottom mattress. The top is smooth while ruffles or pleats drop down the sides, giving the bed a “skirt”.
Fiber or cotton stuffing
More than just providing comfort, this also serves as an insulating material that helps keep the bed warm, which is quite important with mattress pads.
